La Follia Austin Baroque takes you on a world tour to sample the highlights of 17th and 18th century Baroque music from Germany, France, Italy, and England. Featured composers are Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Couperin, Purcell, Corelli, Telemann, and Marais.
La Follia Austin Baroque performs music of the 17th and 18th centuries using instruments and performance practices used by musicians of that era. The sound, quite unlike that produced by modern instruments, brings a sweetness and immediacy that both surprises and delights listeners.
Performing are: Stephanie Prewitt, mezzo-soprano; Boel Gidholm, baroque violin; Marcus McGuff, traverso (baroque flute); James Brown, viola da gamba; Scott Horton, lute and theorbo; Keith Womer, harpsichord.
